Shake the Tree: Seeds to Action
PPF2022 intends to visibly “shake the tree” — to open up possibilities for transforming health (especially mental health), and related professions. Through developing active, diverse and cohesive communities with shared vision and practices, we can take steps towards positive change and solutions, and commit to investments in people, teams, and new infrastructures.
Save these dates >> Thurs, Sept 29, to Sun, Oct 2, 2022 (Note that the forum starts one day earlier than previously announced). This event will be held at Vancouver Island Conference Centre, on traditional, unceded, ancestral territories of the Snuneymuxw, in Nanaimo, British Columbia. Stay tuned for our registration opening in mid May.
PRACTITIONER – PLENARY, ROUNDTABLES & BREAKOUT GROUPS – Sept 29 – 30 / In-Person
> Plus Optional Concurrent Workshops – Oct 1 – 2 / In-Person
We are inviting practitioners to our “unconference the conference” forum format — consisting mainly of plenary sessions, breakout groups, and roundtables, Sept 29 – 30, followed by optional workshops, Oct 1 – 2. Rather than the usual presenter-audience-Q&A format, on the first two forum days, our attendees, with all their experience and expertise, will be engaging in discussions, with the intention of finding resolution and solutions, that are so needed at this time.
We have been actively consulting some members of our core forum community – including psychiatrists, psychologists, medical doctors, therapists, integrated health workers, both above ground and underground practitioners. Many agree that there is a need to bring us all together, to lift up the community, and to step into our power, with a common level of awareness. Some topics and areas for discussion and solutions, proposed by our PPF 2022 visioning/programming committee thus far, include:
- Vision of inclusive, accessible mental and spiritual health with psychedelic medicines.
- Clarify the nature of the work and competencies: medical, ethical, pharmacological, spiritual and relational. Professional practices, gaps, and harm reduction.
- Ethics, Values and Boundaries. Consent regarding safety, touch, sexuality.
- Success stories; Navigating, Collaboration, Overcoming Challenges.
- Standards and agreements on practices, behaviours.
- Group therapy; Power of groups/community.
- Practitioners and Clients: Possibilities, risks and red flags
SEPARATE ADMISSION PUBLIC EVENT — Oct 1 / In-Person & Online
As part of PPF2022’s service to the wider community, we are putting together a separate admission public forum/ event on Oct 1, to disseminate up-to-date information, and to address queries and developments about psychedelic assisted therapies, clinical trials, ministry-approved projects, benefits and risks, and action steps to ensure safe practices.
>> Stay tuned for more details. Registration for PPF2022 will open mid May 2022. Register early as PPF has traditionally sold out.
WORKSHOP PROPOSALS ACCEPTED IN NEXT TWO WEEKS — UNTIL MAY 7, 2022
