The Psychedelic Psychotherapy Forum is Canada’s premiere conference on psychedelic psychotherapy. The Forum engages mental health professionals and all others interested in advancing the ethical and legal use of psychedelic and plant medicines for healing, personal growth and transformation.
The next Forum will be in the fall of 2020. This year, in 2019, we are offering a series of workshops and retreats in the spring and in the fall.
Psychedelic Psychotherapy Forum 2018: The Unfolding Promise was held Oct 11 – 14, 2018, in Victoria, on Vancouver Island, BC, Canada — with two full Forum days at the Westin Bear Mountain Golf Resort and Spa (Thursday Oct 11 and Friday Oct 12), and a third and fourth day dedicated to weekend workshops held in downtown Victoria (Saturday Oct 13, and Sunday Oct 14).
Our keynote speaker this year was Robin Carhart-Harris, PhD, Head of Psychedelic Research, Centre for Neuropsychopharmacology, Division of Brain Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Imperial College London.
Highlight topics at the 2018 Forum included psychedelics and the “entropic” brain, Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, activist therapists who are taking initiatives to change laws, and the training of psychedelic psychotherapists. Post-forum weekend workshops included Bringing Art Therapy into Psychedelic Medicine; Intention and Integration; and self discovery through Holotropic Breathwork™, SpiritDanceSoulSong™, and Gestalt Practice.

A SEA CHANGE IS UNDERWAY IN PSYCHEDELIC PSYCHOTHERAPY
Since our first Forum in 2014, there has been many further developments in the research and training arena surrounding psychedelic-assisted therapies, and in the mounting of legal challenges that will eventually pave the way for patients to safely and legally use psychedelics for medical purposes.
California Institute for Integral Studies will be celebrating their third graduating class at the end of this year for the Certificate in Psychedelic-Assisted Therapies and Research program, for licensed or licensable professionals in mental health and medicine.
GET INVOLVED, GET CONNECTED!
The Psychedelic Psychotherapy Forum is an opportunity for physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, counsellors, therapists, social workers, students, researchers, body workers, and others to come together to network and connect about the future of this exciting and promising field.
The last four Psychedelic Psychotherapy Forums, held in 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2018, were held in Vancouver Island, BC, and organized by Integral Counselling BC. In 2017, the Forum sponsored a Holotropic Breathwork (TM) Weekend grand event — the largest gathering in Western Canada of Grof Transpersonal Training (GTT) certified facilitators since Stan and Christina Grof started training others in this approach in BC at Hollyhock 30 years ago.
We would like to thank our 2018 Forum sponsors — Major Sponsors MAPS Canada and California Institute of Integral Studies, as well as Supporting Sponsors Float House and Banyen Books and Sound. We would also like to thank our Scholarship Initiative supporters for 2018 – including Dr. Bronner’s, California Institute of Integral Studies, and Women’s Visionary Congress.
We are very grateful to our programming/content committee members, scholarship, and organizing committee, and volunteers for contributing towards the success of the 2018 Forum.
