Psychedelic Psychotherapy Forum invites you to voyage together as a conscious community this coming November, in Victoria, BC!

This event kicks off on Friday evening, Nov 17, 2017, with a networking hour, and later, a panel discussion entitled Holotropic Breathwork as Psychedelic Medicine: Looking Forward, Looking Back — headlined by Dr. Stan Grof (who is joining via live video conferencing), Dr. Ingrid Pacey, Dr. Donna Dryer, and Carolyn Green, PhD. This will be followed by a full-day of professionally facilitated Holotropic Breathwork sessions, and integration, on Saturday, Nov 18, 2017 — led by certified Grof facilitators Dr. Ingrid Pacey and Carolyn Green, PhD.

Dr. Ingrid Pacey notes that “Holotropic Breathwork as developed by the Grofs, IS psychedelic medicine. It can be as powerful as MDMA, LSD, psilocybin and other psychedelic medicines. I have seen this in my work with Holotropic Breathwork since 1986 and with MDMA since research began 2005.” She adds: “Holotropic Breathwork is now part of training for all MAPS Phase 3 research therapists. It provides the opportunity to enter an altered state and also to then be witness/therapist for another’s journey. Trainees have reported that they see how Holotropic Breathwork and MDMA psychotherapy feed each other and propel the work. Holotropic Breathwork can provide a safe introduction into future work with psychedelic substances as it is self-generated by the breath. It can also provide opportunities for integration and resolution after psychedelic therapy.”

Register early! The first 50 registrants for the full Holotropic Breathwork Weekend package (Nov 17 & 18) receive a complimentary 90-minute float session*, valued at C$75, courtesy of Float House Victoria. [* rules apply]

HOLOTROPIC BREATHWORK AS PSYCHEDELIC MEDICINE: Looking Forward, Looking Back

Friday, Nov 17, 6:00 – 9:30pm

University of Victoria, BC

Join us for an evening of inquiry and exploration as we welcome Dr. Stan Grof and other pioneers in the field of consciousness and transformation for a panel discussion on the history and future potential for Holotropic Breathwork as a therapeutic modality. Dr. Stan Grof will be headlining this event via live video conferencing, and joining panel members Dr. Ingrid Pacey, Dr. Donna Dryer, and Carolyn Green, PhD.

As evidenced by the success of the recent Psychedelic Science Conference in Oakland California, the interest in new models for healing trauma, addictions, depression and anxiety is growing, as new research on many psychedelic medicines that were banned in the early 70s begins to open up again.

Holotropic Breathwork™ is a powerful approach to self-exploration and healing that integrates insights from modern consciousness research, anthropology, various depth psychologies, transpersonal psychology, Eastern spiritual practices, and mystical traditions of the world.

The evening will be a unique opportunity for anyone interested in working with their own healing process as well as therapists looking for safe and effective tools for working with clients that offer an alternative to simple talk therapy or pharmaceuticals. Panelists will be available to answer questions and offer resources on new models in psychotherapy and personal transformation.

The evening will begin with a social hour and a chance to network and connect with others interested in this topic. We look forward to seeing old friends and making new acquaintances at this unique gathering of minds.

Victoria Association for Psychedelic Studies (VAPS) is the venue sponsor for this event.

Registration fee includes appetizers and a beverage during the networking hour from 6 – 7pm at University of Victoria, BC. The panel discussion starts at 7pm, with lots of opportunities for discussion, dialogue, and Q&A.

Early bird deadline is July 15, 2017.

HOLOTROPIC BREATHWORK™ – Full Day Workshop

Saturday, Nov 18, 9am – 7pm

Westin Bear Mountain Resort, Victoria, BC

Holotropic Breathwork™ is a powerful approach to self-exploration and healing that integrates insights from modern consciousness research, anthropology, various depth psychologies, transpersonal psychology, Eastern spiritual practices, and mystical traditions of the world. The name Holotropic means literally “moving toward wholeness” (from the Greek “holos”=whole and “trepein”=moving in the direction of something).

The process combines accelerated breathing with evocative music in a special set and setting. With the eyes closed and lying on a mat, each person uses their own breath and the music in the room to enter a non-ordinary state of consciousness. This state activates the natural inner healing process of the individual’s psyche, bringing him or her a particular set of internal experiences. With the inner healing intelligence guiding the process, the quality and content brought forth is unique to each person and for that particular time and place. While recurring themes are common, no two sessions are ever alike.

Additional elements of the process include focused energy release work and mandala drawing. Holotropic Breathwork™ is usually done in groups, although individual sessions are also possible. Within the groups, people work in pairs and alternate in the roles of experiencer and “sitter”. The sitter’s role is simply to be available to assist the breather, not to interfere or interrupt the process. The same is true for trained facilitators, who are available as helpers if necessary.

This full-day workshop is being led by certified Grof facilitators Dr. Ingrid Pacey and Carolyn Green, PhD, and supported by certified Grof facilitators Jane Cooper and Renn Butler, and Grof Transpersonal Training Program apprentice Jack Bowering.

Registration fee includes a lunch snack pack and buffet dinner at Westin Bear Mountain Resort and Spa, Victoria, BC.

Registrants qualify for a special group rate of CAD135++ per night’s stay at Westin Bear Mountain Resort – based on availability. For the group rate hotel reservation link, click here.

Early bird deadline is July 15, 2017.
